Governor Mark Dayton Proclaims April 27, 2014 \u2013 D.A.R.E. Day in Minnesota<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

St. Paul, MN:<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>Governor Mark Dayton signed a proclamation making April 27, 2014, D.A.R.E. Day in Minnesota.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n

The day will be celebrated by D.A.R.E. students and their families at the second of two D.A.R.E.\/Twins Games in 2014.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>This year\u2019s poster contest winner representing the Moorhead Police Department will be throwing out the first pitch.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>All D.A.R.E. participants will be parading the field prior to the game and Washington County D.A.R.E. students will be singing the 7<\/span>th<\/span><\/sup> Inning Stretch.<\/span><\/p>\n

State of <\/span>Minnesota<\/span> Proclamation<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Whereas: <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) is a prevention and education program, which advocates and educates for healthy and safe children; and<\/span><\/p>\n

Whereas:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

D.A.R.E. targets young people and their families, and teaches them positive decision-making, educates them on safe and healthy lifestyles, and provides tools to resist engaging in negative and violent behaviors; and<\/span><\/p>\n

Whereas: <\/span><\/strong>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Over 25 million students have been reached worldwide and approximately 75,000 Minnesota students receive instruction annually; and <\/span><\/p>\n

Whereas:<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n

The D.A.R.E. curriculum helps students understand self-image, recognize and manage stress without taking drugs or using violence, evaluate risk-taking behavior, resist gang pressure, apply decision-making techniques, evaluate the consequences of the choices available to them, discover ways to handle conflict, and learn friendship skills; and<\/span><\/p>\n

Whereas:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The D.A.R.E. program has achieved outstanding success, teaching positive and effective approaches to two of the most difficult problems facing our young people today \u2013 drug abuse and violence.<\/span><\/p>\n

NOW, THEREFORE, I Mark Dayton, Governor of Minnesota, do hereby proclaim April 27, 2014, to be:<\/span><\/p>\n
