DARE Day with St. Paul Saints – 2012

This May, the St. Paul Saints hosted a special D.A.R.E. game to honor our “Heros in the Classroom.” May 20th, approximately 500 attended the event which began with a pre-game picnic hosted by the Northern Region of SuperValu and Jennie-O. SuperValu brought in the D.A.R.E. Semi filled with food and Jennie-O donated the hot dogs for the day. It may have been a rainy/cool day but many volunteers and board members came early to make the event a success by cooking hot dogs and feeding the attendees. The Saints rented a dunk tank to entertain the children and families. Coon Rapids DARE Officer Ken Young and MN DARE Executive Director Kathi Ackerman braved the elements to get wet. Ramsey County Sheriff Matt Bostrom threw out the opening pitch and the Saints invited the DARE officers and students on the field to honor our “heros.” This event raised $2255 for Minnesota D.A.R.E. programming, the Saints donated approx. $2000 for the jackets given to the officers, and SuperValu and Jennie-O suppplied all the food! Thank you St. Paul Saints, Northern Region of SuperValu, and Jennie-O!!!!
